Ethiopia Study Abroad to target STEM, Undergraduates
A new May Session study abroad program will introduce students to the development field, in the rich and complex environment of Ethiopia. Partnerships with two Ethiopian universities, Addis Ababa University and the University of Gondar, will provide the settings from which students will learn about Ethiopian history and experience its culture. They will also take part in a two week long field study with organizations working in (a) agriculture, food, and environment, (b) health, nutrition, and education, (c ) business, marketing, and entrepreneurship, and (d) engineering and technological innovation. Students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and all others in the applied biological and agricultural as well as in the arts, humanities, business, education and social sciences are encouraged to participate in this experiential learning program. Students must take AEE 5150, Communication for Change and Development, as a prerequisite.
