African @ Noon Featuring Dr. Thelela Ngcetane-Vika!

On January 22, CAS held its first 2025 Africa at Noon lecture featuring Dr. Thelela Ngcetane-Vika at the Hale Black Cultural Center. Her lecture was entitled “The South African Government of National Unity: Successes, Failures, and Lessons for Transitional Democracies”. In her session, Dr. Ngcetane-Vika addressed critical issues examining strategies to mitigate risk in establishing governments of national unity (GNU), and other issues relating to the implementation of GNUs post the 2024 South African election. The event was well attended, also garnering twenty viewers via zoom in both the US and South Africa.
Dr. Thelela Ngcetane-Vika is a lecturer at the University of the Witsatersrand School of Governance in South Africa. Her research focus sits on the Governance, Security Studies, and International Law nexus. CAS provided lunch for the attendees.
