
Robert Mattes, Professor of Politics at the University of Strathclyde, will discuss recent survey data on changing levels of support for democracy, globally and in recent African elections, with special attention to a pro-democratic opposition victory in Zambia. Mattes is a key collaborator of Mershon’s Comparative National Elections Project and the co-founder of Afrobarometer, a regular survey of over 30 countries in Africa (www.afrobarometer.org) as well as the African Legislatures Project, a study of legislatures and legislators in 17 countries (www.cssr.uct.ac.za/alp)
