Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

In the fall of 2013, the Modeling Regime Shifts in the Logone (MORSL) team were eager to being their multiyear coupled human and natural system research on the dynamics of the stunning Far North Region in Cameroon floodplain. However, growing regional unrest spilling over from neighbouring Nigeria prevented our travel to the floodplain to collect data. Even to this day, we still are unable to visit the system we are studying. This presentation will cover how we sought to overcome inaccessibility to continue to achieve project objectives by capitalizing on the opportunities for collaborating and cooperating with local fishers, researchers and NGOs.  Sui Chian Phang from the Department of Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology will share his experiences.

Free and open to the public.  Nigerian food will be served.  Contact Laura Joseph at cas@osu.edu for more information.
