The Diaspora Dynamic in Humanitarian Relief and Development Over the last several decades, Columbus has become home to a number of vibrant African Diaspora communities from Somalia, Ethiopia, Senegal, Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and elsewhere.  Many young adults from these communities, who may be first or second generation immigrants, feel a particular need to reconnect with and contribute to what they consider their mother culture.   Western educated and multicultural, they bring a mix of perspectives, skills, and  insights – as well as limitations --  to relief, development, and nation-building efforts.  What are the experiences of this generation of Diaspora youth?  What successes and disappointments are they experiencing, and how does this affect their commitment to work and investment in Africa over the long run?Discussants:  OSU Diaspora representatives Free & open to all.
